Does the facility accept Medicare, Medicaid or both?
What will we have to pay out of pocket?
How many staff members are available during the day and overnight?
How are falls, medications and emergencies handled?
What activities and social opportunities are available?
How does the facility handle complaints or concerns?
What happens if the resident's care needs increase?
Look beyond the lobby. Notice how staff speak to residents, whether residents appear engaged, cleanliness, odors, noise levels and whether staff answer your questions clearly.

Ombudsman services are free and confidential.
