Mississippi Adult Protective Services investigates reports of abuse, neglect and exploitation involving vulnerable adults living in private-home settings.

This can include physical abuse, neglect, emotional abuse, self-neglect and financial exploitation.

Financial exploitation can include:

Someone stealing money or property, misusing credit cards, taking control of bank accounts or misusing an older person's assets.

Private Home vs. Care Facility

Private home:
Adult Protective Services handles reports involving vulnerable adults living in their own home, another person's home, or certain unlicensed settings.

Licensed nursing home or personal care facility:
Facility complaints and abuse reports may involve the Mississippi State Department of Health or Attorney General.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
