Miss Ruby stood at the window watching leaves drift from the trees.
Only a few weeks earlier, the branches had been full and green. Now the leaves were turning shades of gold, orange, and deep red before quietly letting go.
She thought about how much life can resemble autumn.
There are seasons when everything feels full and busy. There are also seasons of change, when familiar routines shift, people move away, our bodies slow down, or we find ourselves releasing things we once thought would remain forever.
Change is not always easy.
Yet autumn reminds us that change can hold beauty too.
The tree does not stop being valuable when its leaves fall. Its roots remain firmly planted beneath the ground, preparing it for what comes next.
The same is true for us.
A quieter season does not mean that our lives have lost their purpose. Growing older does not erase our gifts, wisdom, humor, love, or ability to make a difference. Some of our greatest contributions may come from the lessons we share, the prayers we pray, and the encouragement we give to others.
Miss Ruby stepped outside and picked up a bright red leaf. She turned it gently between her fingers and smiled.
“Still beautiful,” she whispered.
Perhaps you need that reminder today.
You are still growing. You are still going. You are still you.
God is present in every season—not only in the busy years, the easy years, or the years that unfolded exactly as planned. He is with us in times of change, helping us release what has passed and trust what is ahead.
There is still beauty in your story. There is still purpose in your days. And there are still meaningful moments waiting to be discovered.
Stay rooted in faith. Welcome the new season gently. God is not finished with you yet.
A Moment to Reflect
What has this season of life taught you?
What is one beautiful or meaningful thing you can appreciate today?
